The leaders of the two main governing coalition parties have agreed today in principle on a consensual presidential candidate who will run in the April 21 elections.
“I think that we can agree on a consensual candidate and I’m convinced that the process will be a successful one”, said the social democrat leader Zoran Zaev following the meeting with the head of the Democratic Union for Integration, Ali Ahmeti.
Zaev said that five of the 10 candidates who submitted their applications will be taken into consideration. On 5 March, SDSM will announce the name of the presidential candidate of the governing coalition. The largest opposition party, VMRO-DPMNE, nominated professor Gordana Siljanovska. /ibna/
