Yemen recognizes the Independence of Kosovo

Kosovo Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Wednesday that this state has been officially recognized by the Republic of Yemen.

In the verbal note addressed to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Enver Hoxhaj states that the Government of the Republic of Yemen has taken the decision to recognize the Republic of Kosovo as an independent and sovreign state.

“On this occasion, the Government of the Republic of Yemen has taken the decision of establishing diplomatic relations with the Republic of Kosovo and to work for the best mutual interest of the two friendly countries in all domains”, states the official leter.

The verbal note signed by the Yemeni Foreign Minister, Dr. Abu Bekr Abdullah al-Qirbi expresses his conviction that the Republic of Kosovo will play its active role as the youngest member of the international community, serving to the security and stability in the Balkan and the world.

This recognition comes a few weeks after Minister Hoxhaj held an official visit to Yemen on April 28, 2013, where he was received by his Yemeni counterpart. During this meeting, Minister Hoxhaj delivered the official request for the recognition of the independence of Kosovo, convincing Yemen to accept the demand.

So far, at least 97 countries have recognized Kosovo, 22 of them EU member countries. /ibna/
