Following repeated invitations and the participation of Alexis Tsipras in meetings of the European Parliament Socialist Group, it is the turn of the Deputy Foreign Minister responsible for European Affairs to take part in the informal meeting of EU Socialist Ministers of European Affairs that will take place 15 July in Rome.
The meeting, which has a coordinating character, will discuss – inter alia – the future of the EU, developments following Brexit and the refugee and migration issues.
The participation of the Greek minister in a meeting of European Socialists, if nothing else, shows their intentions to attract Syriza to their group so that besides being boosted by another governing coalition the group could benefit from a refreshing new air and perspective brought to a formation which is struggling to recover from severe defeats suffered in recent years, both at European and national level.
