Albania has the lowest level of food safety in Europe. This is suggested by a report issued by the World Bank, according to which, the gap between the need for food safety and the capacity of the country is very high.
No other country in the old continent or Western Balkans has such a big gap, which means that the lack of food safety is alarming.
Meanwhile, the index of food safety for animal source foods ranks Albania last in Europe with 40 points. Countries such as Serbia score an average of 75 points, which is much higher than Albania. /ibna/
