In the winter of 2016-2017 plans Energean to make the first drilling in Katakolon, while next summer will be carried out seismic surveys in Ioannina, said the president and CEO Mathios Rigas, speaking at an international energy conference in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
He said that Energean awaits the evaluation of the offers submitted in the tender for the regions of Aitoloakarnania and Arta / Preveza and is in the final stage of negotiation with the Government of Montenegro for three marine plots in the country.
At the same time, Energean implements programmes for 15 drills in the Gulf of Kavala, to increase production through the development of proven reserves of 30 million barrels.
Developments in the field of oil research in the eastern Mediterranean, especially after the discovery of the giant gas field by the Italian ENI in the sea area of Egypt, had been discussed in another conference that it organised in Athens in the Southeast Europe Energy Institute.
This development, as highlighted by the speakers, affects de facto both the schedule and potential customers of the deposits discovered earlier in Cyprus and Israel, while brings back to the fore the prospect of generating a unit for liquefied natural gas in Cyprus.
