Outgoing EU Enlargement Commissioner, Stefan Fule, declared yesterday (23.10) in Belgrade that the EU has not asked and will not ask Serbia to recognize Kosovo, but it has only asked for relations to be normalized.

“The EU position remains the same as last year, when we started the talks. At that time we said that we expect relations between Kosovo and Serbia to be normalized. We didn’t demand the recognition of Kosovo then and we’re not demanding it now”, said Fule.

On the other hand, Fule said that the European Union is ready to allocate billions of Euros as part of the IPA funds to assist projects in the countries of the region.

“EU is ready to help the countries of the region to benefit up to 10 million Euros worth of funds. West Balkan countries are engaged to carry out the reforms, which must be used in order to send positive signals to investors”, said Fule.

Fule made these comments following the meeting of foreign and economy ministers held yesterday in Belgrade. /ibna/
