Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic received today the vice-president of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Vucic and Hamdan discussed the bilateral co-operation, numerous joint projects and international relations, including developments in the Western Balkans, according to a press release of the Serbian presidency.
At the meeting with sheik Hamdan, Vucic emphasised that Serbia and UAE maintain
sincerely friendly relations” and intend to further enhance co-operation in all domains, especially in economy. Companies from the UAE have strengthened their presence in Serbia in recent years; in 2013 Etihad Airways acquired a 49% stake and management rights in Air Serbia, the national flag carrier of the country, while the Serbian government and their Emirati partners launched the Belgrade Waterfront project in 2014.
Vucic thanked Hamdan for the “financial assistance” the UAE provides to Serbia, stressing that mutual projects in agriculture, energy and traffic are successful. He also expressed his gratitude to the UAE for its participation in the Belgrade Waterfront project “which has significantly contributed to the recover of the Serbian construction industry”.
Hamdan said that he respects the “results Serbia has achieved in economy”, underlining that the UAE will be its “responsible and honest friend”. The companies from the Emirates have strong interest in investing in “hotel and hunting tourism as well as in the real estate (sector) in Serbia”, Hamdan added…. / IBNA
