According to Serbian Tanjug news agency the Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic said on Monday during a joint press conference with EU Commissioner in charge of EU’s neighborhood policy and enlargement negotiations, Johannes Hahn, “not everyone wants compromise, bearing in mind the views that are being presented, including some made today.”
Vucic stressed at a joint press conference with EU Commissioner Johannes Hahn that, despite all this, “we will do everything to reach a compromise. Despite this, we will do everything for a compromise to be reached”, however, “Our job is to strive toward an agreement. Serbia will not be humiliated or undermined by anyone, no matter how possible it might seem to somebody.”
Serbia’s head added that negotiations must be held, and that ten years of them are better than one hour of conflict or war, stressing that his country is a lighthouse of stability and peace in the wider region.
Moreover, he noted that “It may be just a phrase to some, but not to me, it is of utmost importance to preserve peace in relations with Pristina, to talk if necessary three times a day, in order to save each life.”
Still, he pointed out that his view is “not everyone wants a compromise.”
Johannes Hahn, said that “everyone knows that Kosovo is an open issue – but it is not a be-all and end-all” for Serbia’s progress on the EU path, since “There are many other issues.”…. / IBNA
