“Are you in favor of the return of the Parthenon Marbles yes or no?”. Passengers and visitors to Athens, can answer to this question via an application that appears in special interactive screens, placed on arrivals and departures halls of Athens International Airport.
Specifically, Greek and foreign passengers “piecing” with two moves the western front of the Parthenon and restoring the Sixth Caryatid in its natural place, can interactively express their opinion on the return of the Parthenon Marbles to Greece. From the first results of the vote, as was the presentation of the application, 129 voted in favor of the return reported 125 and 4 no.
Three screens exist at departures and one at the arrivals.
“We believe that the airport as a crossroads of cultures, is an ideal place to properly reflect the views of visitors to Athens for an issue that concerns the worldwide cultural heritage”, said Ioanna Papadopoulou, Director of Communication and Marketing of the Athens airport. “This initiative adds an important link in the chain of airport persistent efforts for Athens, which is already making very dynamic recovery as a tourist destination”.
