Τhe turnover Volume Index of Retail Trade is estimated to have recorded an increase of 3,1% for the period January-December 2015, compared to the same period of 2014, according to provisional estimates by the Statistical Service of Cyprus.
For December 2015 the index increased by 5,5% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year and reached 108,5 units (base 2010=100).
The biggest increases in 2015 were recorded in electrical goods and furniture at a rate of 11.2% and in the category computer equipment, books and other by 6.6%. The biggest decline by 8.9% was recorded in retail sale in non specialized stores.
However the turnover Value Index of Retail Trade for the period January-December 2015 is estimated to have recorded a decrease of 0,6% compared to the same period of 2014.
On the basis of provisional estimates, the Turnover Value Index for December 2015 increased by 3,8% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year and reached 105,6 units (base 2010=100).
It is noted that motor vehicles are not included in the indices for retail trade.
