“Euralius IV” project will contribute to restore faith of the people on the justice system, on the consolidation of democracy and the rule of law in Albania. This was said on Thursday by the EU ambassador to Tirana, Romana Vlahutin, during the third meeting of the Leading Committee of EURALIUS IV.
Mrs. Vlahutin, who is currently one of the most important international players monitoring the reform in the Albanian judiciary system said that “…the final beneficiary will be the Albanian people, which will benefit from a modern judicial administration, more transparent and efficient, from a developed legislation which is closer to the EU standards and by a better functioning of the judiciary system”.
Referring to the 2015 European Commission Report on Albania, Vlahutin said that the Albanian judiciary system is in the early stage of drafting.
“Delivery of justice is slow, professional treatment and independence of judges is inadequate, corruption is mining the efficiency of the system”, Vlahutin said.
Referring to the current reform in the judiciary system, Vlahutin said that it will not end with the approval of the constitutional package, but it will start there.
“The implementation of the reform is a big challenge and a large number of legislative acts are changing or being drafted”, she said. /ibna/
