The Macedonian opposition presidential nominee was verbally attacked last night by activists of the opponent VMRO-DPMNE party.

The incident has taken place in Lisice quarter in Skopje, where activists of the Macedonian party in power and supporters of the presidential candidate, George Ivanov have insulted the presidential candidate from the Social Democratic Macedonian League (LSDM), Stevo Pendarovski, by not allowing him to meet with his supporters.

One of the insults was “wow, an Albanian president”, implying discontent against Pendarovski’s declarations according to which he would be a president of everyone.

LSDM has reacted against this incident, by saying that serious consequences were prevented after these verbal provocations.

“We demand from the ministry of Interior to shed light upon this incident. Institutions must guarantee the necessary conditions for normal pre electoral activities”, said LSDM.

As far as the incident is concerned, VMRO-DPMNE has demanded the punishment of those who instigated the incident and provocation. “We demand from institutions to act and punish the authors”, declared this party.

Ministry of Interior said that it has stopped several people who were part of the incident and promised that measures will be taken against them based on the law. /ibna/
