Representative of Christian Democrats in the German Bundestag, Johan Vadepul said that Serbia has not yet met the criteria for its integration in the European Union and that the opening of the first chapter of talks depends on the process of normalization of relations with Kosovo.
“We’re still not satisfied with what has been done and there are still things to be done in order to come to the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia”, said Vadepul.
Asked if it’s true that the first chapters of the talks with the EU will be opened in July, he said that it’s important to finalize the process of the normalization of relations with Kosovo before the first chapter is opened.
“The agreement reached in April 2013 is not being entirely implemented”, declared Vadepul, adding that “it’s true that Serbia is not the only one responsible for this”. Nevertheless, he added that Serbia is a key actor in this process.
According to him, the process of the accession of Serbia will depend on how will this country advance with the individual chapters and the normalization of relations with Kosovo.
He added that the resolution of the German Bundestag requires Germany to hold talks with Serbia for section 32 and 35 which relate to Kosovo and financial audits. /ibna/
