US Embassy in Kosovo declared today that it was pleased to see the approval that the government of Kosovo did to the law on the ratification of the Exchange of Letters between President Jahjaga and Baroness Ashton. According to this embassy, the decision clearly puts the long term interests of Kosovo above short term political interests.

“We now appeal to MPs to take advantage of this moment and establish this court which will deal with the serious allegations of the 2010 European Council Report. The world wants to see if Kosovo is committed for a legal process which would solve these allegations once and for all”, states the press release of the US embassy to Kosovo.

According to the embassy, Kosovo must deal with these allegations in order to move forward.

“The failure to establish this court will oblige other international mechanisms to deal with these claims. This would greatly damage the image of Kosovo and its Euro Atlantic aspirations. Members of Parliament must serve to the interests of Kosovo by being committed for a credible legal process, which is acceptable for the international community”, states the press release of the US Embassy to Pristina.

The embassy declared that it realizes that this is a sensitive issue for Kosovo. Nevertheless, says the embassy, this is an investigation which focuses on individuals and not the collective efforts of Kosovo for liberation.

“The creation of this court is the best option to close this chapter of the history of Kosovo. Therefore, USA are ready to be beside Kosovo for as long as it continues to move forward with this pivotal mission”, declares the embassy. /ibna/
