US embassy to Tirana reacts to the opposition’s decision to abandon parliamentary mandates

The US embassy to Tirana has reacted to the decision announced by several Albanian opposition parties to abandon their parliamentary mandates, as a way to force the ruling party and PM Edi Rama to form an interim government and announce early elections.

Meanwhile, “the United States calls on all MPs to rise above the political fray, reject calls to abandon their mandates, and defend the ideals and principles central to any vibrant democracy.”

“If you fail to do your job, you fail the people you are privileged to serve”, the statement reads
