Premises of the University Clinic Center of Kosovo (UCCK) continue to remain under police siege, in an attempt to find Sami Lushtaku, member of Drenica Group, suspected of war crimes, who along with others, should have been transferred to the prison located in the northern part of Mitrovica.
But on the other hand, he’s believed to have escaped UCCK.
The head of correctional services, Shemsi Hajrizi has confirmed that the escape of several of the members of Drenica Group has in fact occurred.
Following reports of an escape from UCCK, where Lushtaku was being treated for health problems, police has immediately rushed to the scene.
Besides the Coronary Clinic, where the suspect for war crimes, Sami Lushtaku, was placed, police has also started to search other clinics.
Lushtaku and the others from the so called Drenica Group should have been transferred to the prison of Northern Mitrovica.
Meanwhile, the son of Sami Lushtaku, Mergim denies the news reported by several media that his father has escaped from the University Clinic Center of Kosovo (UCCK).
He said today that his father, Sami, is still at UCCK, but that he will refuse to be transferred to the detention center of Mitrovica.
“That center is managed by Serbs, who receive orders from Belgrade. We, families and friends of Sami, will never agree for this to happen”, said he.
On the other hand, spokesman of EULEX, Besnik Krasniqi has confirmed the ruling of EULEX judge that the defendants in the “Drenica” case will be transferred to the Detention Center of Mitrovica, during the court hearings.
“The judged has ruled for the defendants in ‘Drenica’ case to be transferred to the detention center of Mitrovica to stay there during the court hearing days”, confirmed Krasniqi.
Two court sessions have been scheduled to take place on May 22 and May 23. During these days, the defendants in the “Drenica” case will stay in the detention center of Mitrovica. /ibna/
