Unknown perpetrators issued an attack at the new offices of the minority party for Equality, Peace, Friendship (KIEF) in Komotini, during the night yesterday.

The perpetrators who wrote with spray “Guardians of Thrace” in windows and walls, smashed a window and a photocopier.

The offices are located on the outskirts of the northern district of Komotini, in the city exit to the Bulgarian vertical axis. The party’s executives have not yet moved thee. They were however transferred some personal belongings of Ahmet Sadik, who was the founder of KIEF in the 90s and served as MP from 1989 to 1993.

Sadik was killed in a car accident on July 24, 1995, a few kilometers from Komotini, when the car he was driving collided with a tractor.

This car had also recently been transferred at the area of new offices KIEF and was also stolen last night.

The foreign ministry condemned the attack, saying provocative actions like this are in stark contrast with the spirit of peace and cooperation that have characterised the llong-term coexistence of Christians and Muslims in Thrace.
