The EU ambassador to Kosovo, Nataliya Apostolova had a meeting today with the mayor of northern Mitrovica, Goran Rakic, IBNA reports.
After this meeting, she has seen three projects funded by the EU, for the development of the region, inhabited by a Serb majority.
The European diplomat said that she is optimistic that the project for the revitalization of the Iber River Bridge will be finalized in order to normalize relations between the two parts of the city.
“I believe that there will soon no longer be a northern and southern Mitrovica, but only one Mitrovica. Our aim is to integrate this part of Kosovo”, she said.
On the other hand, mayor of northern Mitrovica, Goran Rakic referred to Kosovo during the whole of the meeting as Kosovo and Metohija and he considered the question addressed by journalists if he would allow the construction of the mosque of Iber as a provocation. /balkaneu.com/
