UN agency for refugees, UNHCR, has demanded from the government of FYROM to help in coping with crisis of illegal Syrian and Afghan refugees entering the territory of the country.
The concern articulated by this organization has arrived after the death of Syrian and Afghan refugees in the railways of the country.
Within a short period of time, seven refugees have lost their lives in similar circumstances.
“UNHCR expresses its great sorrow for the death of two Syrian brothers near Vesel, after being hit by a train”, reads the UNHCR statement. The majority of emigrants use the railway to move from the southern part of the country, bordering with Greece to the north of the country bordering with Serbia. This railway road is part of Corridor 10. UNHCR has called on the government to address this situation by offering asylum or through other forms in order to avoid these dangerous journeys. UNHCR has expressed its readiness to offer its assistance. /ibna/
