The special UN envoy on the issue of the name dispute with Greece, Mathew Nimetz will arrive in Skopje at the beginning of next month, in a fresh attempt to give way to the name contest with Greece.
Government sources told IBNA that Nimetz’s visit has been scheduled to take place on 2 and 3 July, a month after the creation of the new government and after the visit of the new Foreign Minister of FYROM, Nikola Dimitrov in Athens.
Dimitrov and his Greek counterpart, Kotzias, announced two weeks ago the opening of a new chapter for the cultivation of trust between the two countries.
Nimetz has recently declared that the issue of the name dispute with Greece must be one of the priorities of the new government in Skopje.
The US diplomat was appointed in 1994 by the UN as special representative for the solution of the name contest between FYROM and Greece. /balkaneu.com/
