A high profile meeting will take place on April 29 between senior state leaders from Kosovo and Serbia. President of France, Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor, Angela Merkel have invited President Hashim Thaci and PM Ramush Haradinaj to take part in this conference.
Meanwhile, this conference is also expected to be attended by Serbian president, Aleksandar Vucic and Serbian PM, Ana Brnabic. Dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia will be one of the main topics of this conference.
The British ambassador to Kosovo, Ruairi O’Connell said that this initiative is a very important one. He says that he doesn’t expect to see a final solution at once, however he’s optimistic that this will happen during the year.
According to him, what matters the most is for the agreement to strengthen stability and serve the interests of citizens in both countries.
“We have now come to a point where we expect an agreement to come out of each meeting that is held. I think that such process takes time. We’re not expecting to see a deal in the near future, but the initiative announced by Germany and France is an important one”, O’Connell said. /ibna/
