TV network “Telma”, a private national TV channel in FYR Macedonia, has started a campaign against censorship and political pressure.

According to the director of the network, Atanas Kirovski, the campaign called “red telephone” aims to demonstrate that no orders and readymade news stories are accepted by the government or opposition.

In last news edition, the presenter had to reject several phone calls, saying that no political or institutional interventions would be taken under consideration, especially in this period of political crisis. “Our TV network wants to work in a professional and independent way, in spite of the tendencies of the government to put pressure”, heads of the TV network said.

Such campaign will last several days and besides the news edition there will also be a debate.

In the recent days, media has been targeted by politics about what they’re broadcasting in relation to the wiretapping affair made public by the opposition. /ibna/
