The President of the European Council, Donald Tusk said today that the decision to start the negotiation process with Albania next June is attributed to the country’s progress with the reforms. According to him, the reforms should continue in order to launch negotiations officially.
“I have no doubt that if Albania continues with this momentum, it could achieve the necessary results until next June, because Albania belongs to the EU and it will become a member of the EU”, said Tusk during a joint press conference with the Albanian PM, Edi Rama in Brussels.
On his part, Rama said that the decision of the Council for Albania was a positive one. He said that Albania has now been given a date to formally start the negotiations. /ibna/
