With a 9.6% Year-on-Year increase, Turkey’s exports hit a record high of $ 16 billion in February, according to Commerce Minister Ruhsar Pekcan on Tuesday.
The country also saw a 9.8% increase in imports, reaching $ 19.4 billion over the same period according to the minister, who presented the February preliminary foreign trade figures.
The increase in both figures brought the trade deficit to $ 3.4 billion last month.
In addition, export-to-import coverage ratio was 82.7% in February, Pekcan said.
“In the first two months of this year, the index rose to 82.9% from 79.5% a year ago,” he added.
The ministry is focusing on expanding Turkey’s export markets while strengthening its presence in current markets, the Minister of Commerce underlined. /ibna
