Turkey has produced an impressive output in the automotive sector with 20% of the vehicles imported by the EU countries produced in the country, making Turkey a champion in this field.
According to Eurostat, in 2016 EU countries Paid USD 77.1 billion for vehicle imports. Turkey sold vehicles worth USD 15.3 billion and gained a 20% stake. So it’s first in the share. Japan is followed by a 19% share of EU imports into vehicles. Following are the US with 14%, South Korea 10% and China with 8%.
These figures show the increase in Turkey’s vehicle exports considering that in 2012 the value of exports to EU countries was USD 8.4 billion. In 2013, exports exceeded USD 9.4 billion. In 2016, Turkey’s exports to vehicles reached USD 15.3 billion and broke all previous records./IBNA
