Turkish embassy to Pristina has sent a note to the Foreign Ministry of Kosovo, demanding from it to take measures for the arrest of journalist Berat Buzhala, who is known as an opponent of president Recep Tayip Erdogan.
The reaction of the Turkish diplomacy comes following comments and numerous articles published by the Kosovar journalist, supporting the military coup in Turkey.
“The ministry must make sure that adequate steps are taken against this person in accordance to the law”, says the note, which is accompanied with the comments made by journalist Berat Buxhala.
Association of the Journalists of Kosovo (AGK) has reacted after the request of the Turkish government. AGK condemns the request of the government of Turkey sent through the Turkish embassy to Pristina.
“We consider the request of the Turkish embassy addressed to the Foreign Ministry of Kosovo as a serious violation, which calls for measures to be taken against the journalist in question. At the same time, we would like to remind to the Turkish embassy that journalists in Kosovo have the right of speech, which is guaranteed by the Constitution of the country”, AGK says in its statement. /balkaneu.com/
