European Council President Charles Michel will pay a visit to Ankara on Wednesday to meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The meeting comes shortly after his visit to Greece on Tuesday accompanied by European Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen and European Parliament President David Sassoli.
The EU leaders were welcomed by the Greek Prime Minister who briefed them on the situation at the Greek-Turkish border and the increase in the refugee and migrant flows, following the Turkish government’s decision not to prevent them in their attempt to cross the border.
EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borell is already on a two-day visit to Ankara, in an attempt to find a solution to the situation in Idlib as well as to the refugee-migrant issue. /ibna
