Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu paid an official visit to Berlin, one day before Germany assumes the rotating EU presidency, where he met with Foreign Minister Heiko Maas and Interior Minister Horst Seehofer.
According to the Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu had a fruitful meeting in Berlin with his German counterpart Heiko Maas.
After the meeting, the two Ministers held a joint press conference.
Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that “we want to develop the Turkey-European Union relations in a healthier way during the German Presidency of the European Union”.
The Turkish Foreign Minister stressed that “we are ready to host our German guests in a safe and healthy environment”, and that “Germany must reconsider its travel warning to Turkey”.
Later that day, Minister Çavuşoğlu also met with German Interior Minister Horst Seehofer.
The meeting revolved around the healthy and safe visits of German visitors to Turkey, the fight against the PKK and FETÖ terrorist organizations, which also pose a threat to Germany, as well as illegal immigration. The abuse of the Turkish community in Germany, including racist attacks, was also discussed. /ibna
