Turkey will continue to support Kosovo in its integration processes and lobby for new recognitions of the independence of Kosovo.
This pledge was made by the deputy Prime Minister of Turkey, Numan Kurtulmush who is staying in an official visit in Kosovo on the occasion of 23 April, Day of the Turkish Minority in Kosovo.
After the meeting held with the speaker of the Parliament of Kosovo, Kadri Vesli, Mr. Kurtulmush said that relations between Kosovo and Turkey are very good and that the two countries are interested on continuing these relations.
Speaking on Kosovo’s integration process, the Turkish deputy Prime Minister said that Kosovo deserves to be part of the European Union and that Turkey will help Kosovo in this aspect.
“From here, I would like to call on all Arab countries which haven’t recognized the independence of Kosovo to do it along with those European states which haven’t recognized it, because Kosovo is part of Europe. However, we first demand for Kosovo to benefit from the visa liberalization regime and then become part of the EU. The recognition of the independence of Kosovo would be a good thing for all the Muslim and European countries”, Kurtulmush said.
The Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan has also demanded the recognition of the independence of Kosovo in the meeting of the Islamic State Organization held last week.
Today, deputy Prime Minister Kurtulmush has also met with President Hashim Thaci. /balkaneu.com/
