Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar, addressing Turkish officials said that “we want to resolve all our problems in the Aegean, the Eastern Mediterranean and Cyprus with all parties in accordance with international law. That is our goal, everything that international law and the framework of good neighborliness provides for”.
However, Akar added: “On the other hand, I have to say that we have the will and we are determined to protect the rights and interests of the Turkish Republic of 83 million Turkish citizens. And we are capable of that. This is not a threat to anyone but neither provocations”.
The Turkish Minister also sent a message to Cyprus and stressed that:
“Cyprus is a national affair and everyone should keep in mind that we will under no circumstances allow for any faits accomplis”. /ibna
