The number of foreign visitors to Turkey rose 14.5% year-on-year for the 10-month period January-October, according to the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism on Friday.
The 14.5% increase reflects the 40.7 million foreign visitors from January to October.
The city of Antalya in the Mediterranean region had the highest percentage with 14.1 million visitors in the first 10 months.
Istanbul, Turkey’s largest city in population and top tourist destination worldwide, was the second destination, attracting 12.7 million visitors from abroad.
The Russians were the top foreign nationals according to the announcement with 6.7 million, representing 16.44% of all foreign visitors entering Turkey.
Russia is followed by Germany with 4.7 million, Britain with 2.4, Bulgaria with 2.3 and Iran with 1.8 million.
In October, 4.3 million foreigners visited Turkey, marking a 14.3% year-on-year increase.
Antalya and Istanbul had 38% and 31.4% of total foreign visitors last month, respectively.
