The situation with the coronavirus in Turkey is not getting any better as each day goes by. Following today’s update by Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca, 79 people died on April 2 and 2,456 new cases were reported. A total of 356 people have died and 18,135 have been confirmed since the first outbreak occurred in Turkey on 11 March. In the neighboring country, 1,101 patients remain in intensive care and 783 are intubated.
In a video conference held with dozens of mayors across Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he remained optimistic about the future. “At a time when we are witnessing a historic catastrophe all over the world, we are doing just fine compared to other countries, praise be to God. But we should be neither disappointed nor put our guards down”, Erdogan noted. /ibna
