Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras accompanied by his wife Bety Baziana left for Beijing at 9pm on Thursday night. The Greek Prime Minister was accompanied by Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias, Minister of Digital Policy Nikos Papas, Deputy Minister of Economy Stergios Pitsiorlas, General Secretary for International Relations, at the Foreign Ministry George Tsipras and his Diplomatic Adviser Vangelis Kalpadakis to participate in the One Belt One Road Forum for International Cooperation and the 2nd China-Hellenic Cities Forum to be held in the Chinese capital.
In a festive Beijing and with the atmosphere unprecedentedly clear due to the northern wind blowing since Thursday, Alexis Tsipras will have the opportunity to hold a series of bilateral contacts with leaders of countries and organizations that also participate in this international forum.
According to the Greek Prime Minister’s official program and as IBNA first wrote, there will be meetings with: UN Secretary-General António Guterres, IMF Chief Executive Officer, Christine Lagarde, President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Li Keqiang.
On 12 and 13 May, the Greek Prime Minister will meet with representatives of investment, banking and business groups.
According to the Prime Minister’s official program in China on Friday, May 12, he will attend and address the opening ceremony of the Centre for Greek Studies.
On Saturday, May 13th, he will be welcomed by China’s President Xi Jinping. He will then participate and speak at the 2nd China-Hellenic Cities Forum, where mayors of Greek cities will attend while on the afternoon of the same day he will have a meeting with the Chinese Prime Minister, Li Keqiang.
On Sunday, May 14, Alexis Tsipras will participate in the opening of the Belt and Road Forum with a speech by China’s President Xi Jinping, involving 30 State and Government Leaders, followed by High Level discussion in the Plenary of the Belt and Road Forum
On the afternoon of the same day, the President of the People’s Republic of China will welcome his high-ranking guests to the People’s Palace, where he will be hosting dinner, a cultural event at the Beijing National Opera will follow.
Finally, on Monday, May 15, the Greek Prime Minister will participate in the 1st and 2nd round of the Heads of State and Government with topics such as “Policy Co-operation for Closer Co-operation” and “Co-operation for Connectivity for Interconnected Development”.
The working lunch to be given to the Heads of State and Government will discuss “Cultural exchanges and building human ties./IBNA
