Trump has Dacic’s support for 2020 elections

Ivica Dacic, Serbia’s Foreign Minister, publicly expressed his support for Donald Trump’s reelection bid in the 2020 United States presidential race. Dacic made these remarks during an interview, emphasizing his belief that Trump’s leadership would continue to be beneficial for Serbia and its interests.

Dacic praised Trump’s approach to foreign policy, specifically highlighting his role in facilitating agreements between Serbia and Kosovo. According to Dacic, Trump’s administration had a balanced and practical stance regarding the Balkans, which was in contrast to previous U.S. administrations. He pointed out that the agreements made under Trump’s mediation have contributed to improving economic cooperation in the region.

This isn’t the first time Dacic has shown public support for Trump. Back in 2016, Dacic also made comments favoring Trump over his then-opponent, Hillary Clinton, citing a longstanding perception in Serbia that Clinton had been hostile toward the country during the 1990s conflicts.

As the U.S. elections approached, Dacic’s open endorsement of Trump garnered attention, though it remains to be seen how such statements might impact diplomatic relations with the U.S. should the election results differ. Dacic expressed hope that a continued Trump presidency would create more opportunities for Serbia to strengthen its international relationships, particularly with the U.S.

While some political figures in Serbia might not share Dacic’s sentiments, his statements reflect the broader foreign policy strategy of seeking more favorable alliances with global powers.
