Commander of the NATO Allied Joint Force Command based in Naples, Admiral James Foggo said on Wednesday in Pristina that the process for the transformation of Kosovo’s Security Force in an army must be done in coordination with NATO and international community.
Admiral Foggo visited the Kosovo Security Force to discuss the security situation in Kosovo and KFOR’s mission to guarantee a safe environment and free movement for everyone based on resolution 1244 of the UN Security Council.
“Admiral Foggo stressed that he expects this transition to be a gradual, transparent ande closely coordinated with NATO and international community”.
Admiral Foggo, who leads the NATO Allied Joint Force Command based in Naples said that “NATO remains committed for a safe environment in Kosovo and stability in the Balkan region”.
On 14 December 2018, parliament in Kosovo adopted a bill which enables the transformation of the Kosovo Security Force into an army. This decision was backed by US, UK and Germany, while it was rejected by NATO and EU. According to them, the right moment had not yet come for this to happen. /ibna/
