Tourism in Albania grew by 25%

Number of tourists visiting Albania this summer as opposed to last year was 25% higher. This is the increasing trend calculated by the General Office of Albanian Tourism.

According to the data from the National Agency of Tourism, the number of foreign tourists for the first six months of 2015 was 1 million and 391 thousand or 14,7% more visitors than the same period of 2014.

In the first place are tourists from Kosovo, who occupy 38% of the total number for the first six months. Their number was 30% higher than last year.

There was also an increase in the number of visitors from Western European countries. But according to the information from the General Office of Tourism, there’s been a decrease in the number of visitors from Balkan neighboring countries such as Montenegro, FYR Macedonia, Croatia, etc.

In terms of revenues, according to the Bank of Albania, the increase of the number of visitors has generated 594 million euros during the first half of the year, or 9% more than the same period in 2014. /ibna/
