Municipality of Tirana is looking into the future development of the Albanian metropolis. It has prepared projects which will be presented in the “Tirana Smart City 2016-2026” Conference of Donors, that will be held on 20 January.
Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, says that there are around 100 projects which will be presented to around 200 donors.
In cooperation with UNDP, the municipality has selected several projects which will be a priority, such as the transport terminal, the traffic control center, online platform for taxes and council charges.
There are also plans to increase the number of lanes for cyclists, to solve the problem of the accommodation of the Roma community, the creation of at least 7 underground parking spaces, etc.
What will be interesting to see is the financial cost.
The projects are aimed to be started as soon as possible in order to be finalized within a period of ten years.
“Tirana Smart City” is the first conference of this kind in the capital. /ibna/
