His Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic has said that he was “very happy” over the visit. At the beginning of the two-day visit, Macron reiterated his position regarding European Union’s enlargement, saying that EU must reform itself before accepting new member states. “EU does not function well now and I think that we should first make some decision in order both, we and you, to act faster. I also believe...

The "green light" for the transformation of SYRIZA into a party that will express and integrate the left, progressive, democratic and environmental citizens in its ranks, was given by the Central Committee meeting on Saturday. "We need to reboot the party," the SYRIZA president said distinctively. For this reason, the procedures and the recording of the proposals for the process of reconstruction, the structure and the...

Lawyer Nedim Ademović said at a press conference on Monday in Sarajevo that "the situation with Turkish citizens is politicized and there is a great political pressure...
Modestly, humbly and consensually
The new government appears unifying and consensual during its first week. Both the prime minister and the ministers appear reassuring and try to entertain the impressions of a "neoliberal whirlwind", a rhetoric used by SYRIZA in the election period, and one that the leftist party continues to use as main opposition. One of the first meetings of the Prime Minister was with the Minister of Labour, Yannis Vroutsis, where they stressed the need to respect the labour law. To underline this fact, the minister afterwards met with labour inspectors in order to declare that checks will take place and there will be no tolerance for...

Bulgarian court rules to back regulator on gas grid capacity expansion contract
Bulgaria's Supreme Administrative Court has ruled against the appeal by the country's gas grid operation Bulgartransgaz, which sought to overturn the competition regulator's  decision to re-instate Saudi Arabian Arkad Engineering as the winner in the tender to design and build the expansion of Bulgaria’s domestic gas infrastructure, needed in order for the country to handle the transiting gas from the Turkish Stream pipeline. The court said, in a decision dated July 11, that Bulgartransgaz's arguments were insufficient to rescind the Commission for Protection of Competition's (CPC) ruling. Earlier this month, the regulator blocked the company's decision to drop Arkad Engineering as the contractor, in favour...
