US ambassador to Pristina, Greg Delawie once again condemned today the violent acts of the opposition parties in the parliament of Kosovo.
Delawie said that in the temples of democracy, there’s no room for teargas and that violence cannot be used as an instrument to attain political objectives.
“Violence in parliament and on the street have harmed Kosovo’s position in the world. There can be no debates and anti corruption laws cannot be approved if parliament is not allowed to convene”, Delawie said.
The US ambassador added that he has been criticized of speaking about corruption in Kosovo, but according to him, tackling of corruption is one of the three priorities of his mandate.
“Corruption is a major problem, it prevents political progress, inhibits investments and jobs and what’s more important, it damages citizens’ morale. Corruption harms the present and the future of Kosovo”, Delawie added.
Delawie said that prosecutors and judges must work hard in order to gain public’s trust. /ibna/
