The proceedings of the third day of the Conference on Cyprus in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, got under way at 11am (Swiss time) in the presence of the UN Secretary General, Mr Antonio Guterres.
Arriving in the morning at the Conference venue were the President of the Republic, Mr Nicos Anastasiades, the leader of the Turkish Cypriot community, Mr Mustafa Akinci, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Mr Nikos Kotzias, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Mr Mevlut Cavusoglu, the Director for British National Security at the Foreign Office and envoy of the United Kingdom for the Cyprus problem, Mr Jonathan Allen, and the First Vice President of the European Commission, Mr Frans Timmermans, who were all welcomed by the Special Advisor of the UN Secretary General on Cyprus, Mr Espen Barth Eide.
Subsequently, the UN Secretary General arrived and had a brief conversation with the participants in the Conference.
Afterwards there was a photo opportunity of the UN Secretary General with the leaders of the two communities, then with the leaders and the interlocutors as well as with Mr Eide, and subsequently with the heads of all the participating sides in the Conference.
After the morning session of the proceedings of the Conference, the UN Secretary General will attend a working lunch with the leaders of the two communities./IBNA
