The most prominent Albanian tenor dies aged 83
The Albanian world of music is mourning. The legendary tenor, Gaqo Çako has died at the age of 83.

Along with Ramiz Kovaçi, Mentor Xhemali and many others, Gaqo Çako’s name ranks among the biggest names of the Pantheon of the Albanian music.

Between 1957 and 1961 Çako studies at the “Tchaikovsky” conservatory in Moscow. Upon his return to Albania in 1961, he was appointed permanent tenor at the Theatre of Opera and Ballet in Tirana.

Gaqo Çako has a rich career and experiences participating in operas such as “Traviata”, “Boheme”, “Norma”, etc.

“Gaqo Çako  is no longer with us, leaving behind a rich heritage”, said the Albanian PM, Edi Rama. /ibna/
