The Government Spokesman, Mr Nikos Christodoulides, who is accompanying the President of the Republic, Mr Nicos Anastasiades, in New York, will go to Washington on 23 March 2017, for contacts with officials of the American government.
More specifically, the Government Spokesman will meet on the 23rd of March with the Executive Vice President of the Atlantic Council, Mr Damon Wilson, and with Mr David Koranyi, Director of the Energy Diplomacy Initiative at the Atlantic Council. In the evening, Mr Christodoulides will attend a dinner hosted by the White House Chief of Staff, Mr Reince Priebus, on the occasion of the 25 of March anniversary that marks Greek Independence Day.
On March 24, the Government Spokesman will meet with officials of the United States Department of State, including the Acting Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, Mr John Heffern, and the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Southeastern Europe, Mr Jonathan Cohen. He will also meet with the Advisor of the Vice President of the United States for foreign policy issues, Ms Molly Montgomery, as well as with the Director for Cyprus, Greece and Turkey of the National Security Council at the White House, Ms Shannon Culbertson.
In the afternoon of the same day, Mr Christodoulides will attend the traditional reception on the occasion of the 25 of March anniversary at the White House, in the presence of the President of the United States of America.
On March 25, Mr Christodoulides will go to New York and he will attend and address, on behalf of the Cyprus Government, the annual Conference of the Cyprus Federation of America.
On March 26, the Government Spokesman will return to Washington at the invitation of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), in order to attend the AIPAC Policy Conference 2017 and to participate on March 27, in the context of the Conference, in a roundtable discussion with Ministers of EU member states on issues related with the current challenges Europe, Israel and the Eastern Mediterranean face.
On March 28, the Government Spokesman will attend a working breakfast with journalists and officials of American think tanks during which he will brief them on the current situation pertaining to the Cyprus problem.
On the same day he will also meet with officials of the ExxonMobil Company.
Mr Christodoulides will depart for Cyprus on 28 March./IBNA
