Kosovo’s Foreign Minister, Hashim Thaci declared today in Skopje that Athens can use the model used between Pristina and Belgrade for the solution of the disputes that exist between them. Thaci said this during his one day visit in Skopje.

Kosovo’s Foreign Minister was initially received by the Macedonian Foreign Minister, Nikola Popovski, where the two personalities agreed on boosting bilateral cooperation, regional issues and also signed two agreements, one in the domain of investments and the other one relating to the two diplomatic academies of the foreign ministries of both countries.

In the joint news conference, Thaci declared that Kosovo shares similar goals to FYR Macedonia, in its path toward NATO and EU accession, but according to him, to attain these goals, current problems must be solved.

“Kosovo is engaged for a stable and quiet region, with a clear European perspective. Your country was one of the first ones to recognize the independence of our country and we’re grateful for this. We will always support your aspirations for accession in the NATO and EU, but we also offer our support in order to find a solution for the name dispute with Greece. As a model for this, you can use the efforts made by Pristina and Belgrade in the framework of the dialogue in Brussels”, declared Foreign Minister of Kosovo.

Macedonian Foreign Minister, Popovski said that both countries have excellent bilateral relations and that they’re working for joint projects.

“We have excellent bilateral relations, we have open dialogue and we work together in domains such as infrastructure and cross border cooperation. Three are the issues which will make a priority for the period to come: the joint meeting of the two governments, facilitation of free movement through ID cards and regional cooperation through different projects”, declared Popovski. /ibna/
