At the first day of the new academic year in the schools of the country, acting prime minister, Hashim Thaci has reiterated his electoral promise, by saying that salaries for teachers will continue to increase in January of next year.
Prime minister Thaci has participated in the opening of the new professional school in Shtime, where he said that teachers’ salaries will continue to rise every year, as it was promised during the June 8 election campaign.
“Today I participated in the opening of the new professional school in Shtime, on the occasion of the new academic year 2014/2015. After I congratulated pupils on the new school, I informed participants that in the next days to come, parliament will gather and the new government will be formed”, declared Thaci.
“We will immediately start the implementation of the New Mission and given that education is a priority for the development of Kosovo, starting from next January, teachers’ salaries will increase by 25%”, added thaci.
In Kosovo, like in other countries of the region, the new academic year started today for elementary and high schools.
Ministry of Education and Science of Kosovo said that all efforts have been made for a good start of the school year.
Senior officials in Kosovo have congratulated pupils, parents and teachers a happy return to school.
They have expressed their conviction that more will be achieved in the education of the new generation.
The new academic year in Kosovo will be attended by 408 thousand students in more than 1 thousand schools. /ibna/
