PRISHTINA, 27 March 2013
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi met the ambassadors of the Quint countries and EU ambassadors, accredited in Prishtina, in separate meetings.
The main topic of the meetings was the dialogue on normalizing inter-state relations between Kosovo and Serbia and current political developments in the country.
In the two meetings, Prime Minister Thaçi informed the ambassadors about the seventh meeting with the Prime Minister of Serbia, held in Brussels with the mediation of Baroness Catherine Ashton.
Mr. Thaçi emphasized that the meeting was marked by a readiness to move forward, and he added that although progress was achieved, no agreement was reached.
In the meeting between the two prime ministers in Brussels, particular emphasis was placed on the full integration of the northern part of the country, within the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo.
With regard to this issue, Prime Minister Thaçi stressed that, “this integration will occur by establishing law and order in the northern part of Kosovo, by fully implementing the Constitution and laws of Kosovo, by protecting the unitary character of our system of justice and law, the proper hierarchy of central and local institutions, by not allowing intermediate forms of governance and by fully dismantling illegal security and justice structures”.
In these meetings, Prime Minister Thaçi expressed his hope that in the next meeting on April 2, in Brussels, both willingness and responsibility will be demonstrated with regard to the new circumstances, conditions and environment, and that Serbia will understand and show its readiness to be good neighbors with Kosovo, and be willing to normalize relations between the two countries.
The Quint ambassadors and those of the European Union, accredited in Prishtina, expressed great appreciation for the commitment of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and of Prime Minister Thaçi to the dialogue on normalizing inter-state relations between the Republics of Kosovo and of Serbia.
The integration of the northern part of Kosovo will occur by fully respecting the Constitution and laws of Kosovo and the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Kosovo, – said the Quint and EU ambassadors.
