President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci commemorated yesterday the third anniversary of the signing of the first agreement for the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia.
“After a century full of conflicts, we achieved the first peaceful agreement between Kosovo and Serbia, which aims at normalizing relations and reconciliation the two nations and states, under the leadership of USA”, Thaci declared.
He said that this decision is not an easy one, but it was the best decision for the people of Kosovo and the nations of the region.
“Dialogue, normalization and reconciliation between the countries is the only alternative”, he said.
The 19 April 2013 agreement was signed by the then prime ministers of Kosovo and Serbia, Hashim Thaci and Ivica Dacic, with the brokerage of the EU chief of diplomacy, Catherine Ashton.
However, the implementation of the agreement in practice seems to have been blocked in many points, especially in the work of the courts in the north of Kosovo and the creation of the Association of Serb Communes. This association has also become the cause of tension between the government and the opposition in Kosovo. The opposition says that this mechanism would divide Kosovo. /balkaneu.com/
