Prime Minister of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci and that of Serbia, Ivica Dacic have arrived in Brussels once again today to meet head of EU foreign affairs, Catherine Ashton. This meeting, which will be the last one for this year, marks the 20th meeting held in the framework of these talks.
This meeting is considered as one of the most important ones for Serbia, because its outcomes will determine the decision that the European Council will take about the date for the launch of negotiations for Serbia’s EU accession.
Thursday’s meeting between Thaci and Dacic harmonized issues relating to police and the topic of this meeting will be the judicial system.
“The main topic of this meeting will be the judicial system, while the objective is to make a big progress ahead of the report of the EU senior representative for foreign affairs, Catherine Ashton, which will be presented before the Council of Ministers before the latter takes a decision for the accession of Serbia in the European Union. There will be talks on open issues that relate to the implementation of the Brussels Agreement, one of which is the judicial system”, said Baroness Ashton’s spokeswoman, Maja Kocijancic.
Kosovo has demanded for the court headquarter to be situated in the southern part of Mitrovica with branches in the communes of the northern part, while the delegation led by Dacic has demanded for the court headquarter to be in the north with branches in the south of what Belgrade considers to be a divided town. /ibna/
