New Taxes on the Horizon

 

The government has been adamant that spending cuts need to be coupled with higher taxes in order to sort out Slovenia’s public finances. A raise in the VAT rates is being mulled, but two party leaders suggested Friday several more taxes could be in the offing.

Pensioners’ Party (DeSUS) president Karl Erjavec proposed introducing a temporary “crisis tax” levied on a progressive scale on wages and pensions in excess of 700 euros.
