Construction works for a 1.5 long tunnel in the south of Albania have started as part of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline project.
Starting in Skrapar, the tunnel will join the eastern segment of the pipeline in Albania to the western segment.
“The construction of this micro-tunnel is the first one of this kind in Albania, as part of such an important investment like TAP. I would also like to congratulate the high standards that TAP and its contractors apply in regards to health and safety at work”, said the deputy minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Enis Aliko.
Meanwhile, TAP’s manager in Albania, Karl Roberts said that TAP is a very important part of the southern gas corridor which will enable the gasification of Western Balkans and will offer an alternative source of gas for Europe.
“The micro-tunnel will be built by using the latest technology and by respecting the environemtn”, Roberts said. /balkaneu.com/
