The talks for the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia are expected to continue in New York as part of the UN General Assembly which will take place from September 18th to October 5th.
This assembly will also be attended by the president of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci and the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, IBNA reports.
The meeting has also been confirmed by the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Policy and Security, Federica Mogherini, who said that the two presidents will meet during the last week of September.
It’s not yet clear if the talks between Serbia and Kosovo will be held as part of the UN General Assembly or whether they will be assisted by the US, which currently holds the presidency of the UN Security Council.
Last month, the presidency of the UN Security Council was held by United Kingdom. The quarterly report of the Security Council for the situation in Kosovo did not take place, while it’s not expected to take place even this month.
The British ambassador to the UN, Karen Pierce has demanded for the UN mission in Kosovo, UNMIK to end. According to her, financial costs are high and they could be allocated in other hot areas. However, there are other countries which are against this. /ibna/
